The Stepped Mental Health Care Program
The Center for Community Mental Health has developed a 3-step program for obtaining evidenced-based mental health care. Clients are invited to utilize all 3 steps in order or begin at whichever step you feel meets your current needs.

Step 1: Emotional Support Line
A telephone helpline available 7 days/week from 8:30am-8:30pm, using an evidence-informed approach to address acute issues, with screening for problems that require more intensive treatment.

Step 2: Skills Based Therapy
A 3-session telehealth intervention designed to improve coping skills, using an evidence-informed approach, with continued screening for problems that require more intensive treatment. These 3 sessions are FREE to the following groups:
- Mason students, staff and faculty.
- Residents of Prince William County.
- Residents of Fairfax County, aged 16 and up.
The 3 sessions are $35 per session for others, with a sliding fee scale available based on income.
Step 3: Longer-term Therapy
Upon completion of the 3 session skills-based intervention, a referral for additional sessions of therapy (via telehealth or in-person) with a provider from the CCMH may be offered. Additional sessions are available on a sliding fee scale, based on income.
